Melbourne Christmas Minis: The Easy Annual Tradition Your Family Will Be Glad You Started

You know that moment in December when you're scrolling and see someone else's family Christmas photo and think, "We really should do that this year"?

Then the month gets away from you. Work parties, school concerts, the last of the shopping. Suddenly it's Boxing Day and the only photo of your kids in their Christmas outfits is a blurry one from the kitchen.

I get it. That's exactly why I love Melbourne Christmas Minis.

What are Melbourne Christmas Minis?

Christmas Minis are short, relaxed photo sessions that run on set dates in one special location. You pick a time slot, show up, and we spend a little while having fun together. That's it.

No two hour shoot. No spending weeks planning outfits for five people and a dog. Just a short, easy session that fits into your busy December and gives you real photos of your people at this exact stage of life.

For a lot of families, Melbourne Christmas Minis become the one thing that actually gets done every year. And that's where the magic happens.

Why an annual Christmas photo is worth it

Here's the truth. Your kids will never be this age at Christmas again. The toddler who won't stop giggling, the little one who is suddenly too cool for cuddles, the baby who was a bump last December. Every year looks different.

When you do Christmas Minis every year, you end up with a collection that tells your whole story. Lined up side by side, you'll see how much your family has changed before it changes again. That's the part you can't get back, and it's the part you'll treasure most.

It's also the easiest gift you can give yourself. One session, one date, and you've got photos to put on the fridge, send to grandparents, or print for the Christmas cards you swear you'll send this year.

A very Australian Christmas, in nature

Let's be honest. Christmas in Melbourne doesn't look like the snowy movies. It's warm, it's bright, and it's usually spent outside. So that's exactly how I do my Christmas Minis.

All of my sessions are outdoors, in the kind of light and scenery that feels like our summer Christmas. Think golden coastal parks, open skies and bare feet in the grass. It's relaxed, natural and a bit playful, just like real family life. No fake snow. No stiff studio backdrops. Just you and your people, doing Christmas the Australian way.

New this year: Christmas Tree Farm Minis in Sunbury

I'm so excited about this one. For the first time, I'm running Christmas Tree Farm Minis at the Sunbury Christmas Tree Farm.

Picture your family surrounded by real Christmas trees. You can actually smell them. There's a tractor, which every kid (and honestly, most dads) will love, and we'll make sure that gets some photo time too. It's a really unique way to do Melbourne Christmas Minis, and it feels like a proper Christmas outing, not just a photo session.

Christmas Minis in the Park: by the coast

If you want that classic summer Christmas feel, my park minis are made for it. These are quick, easy and perfect for families who want gorgeous photos without a big production.

If you live in Point Cook, Altona, Tarneit, Truganina or anywhere around Melbourne's west, these are right on your doorstep. I live in Point Cook myself, so these parks feel like home to me. You're welcome from anywhere in Melbourne too.

"But my kids never cooperate"

This is the number one thing I hear, and I promise you're not the only one.

Twenty or thirty minutes sounds short, but it's actually the sweet spot. Little ones don't get tired or fed up, you don't get stressed, and we get the good stuff. The real giggles, the cuddles, the in between moments, plus at least one lovely photo where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling. You get both, because you deserve both.

And if you're someone who doesn't love being in front of the camera, you're in good company. I'll guide you through the whole thing so you never feel awkward. I've got you.

Who Melbourne Christmas Minis are for

Everyone. Young families, big families, blended families, couples, grandparents joining in, and all the cousins who are visiting from interstate or overseas. If Christmas is a big family gathering in your house, bring the whole crew. Extended family and different cultural traditions are always welcome, and I love seeing everyone come together.
